01 - Preheat the pie iron over a campfire or stovetop for 2 to 3 minutes.
02 - Brush one side of each bread slice with melted butter. Arrange 4 slices, buttered side down, on a clean surface.
03 - Spread 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on each base slice. Evenly distribute shredded mozzarella and selected toppings. Sprinkle with Italian herbs if desired.
04 - Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side up, forming sandwiches.
05 - Place each sandwich into the preheated pie iron, close, and latch securely. Trim excess bread if needed.
06 - Cook over medium campfire heat for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until bread is golden and cheese has melted.
07 - Remove from pie iron, allow to cool briefly, then serve immediately.
