Strawberry Cream Cheese Roll Ups (Printable Version)

Soft bread rolled with strawberry cream cheese, toasted golden and cinnamon-coated.

# What You Need:

→ Filling

01 - 4 oz cream cheese, softened
02 - 2 tbsp granulated sugar
03 - 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
04 - 3.5 oz fresh strawberries, finely diced

→ Roll Ups

05 - 6 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed
06 - 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

→ Coating

07 - 3 tbsp granulated sugar
08 - 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

# Directions:

01 - In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, 2 tbsp sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in the diced strawberries.
02 - Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin to make it thin and pliable.
03 - Spread about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese-strawberry mixture over each bread slice, leaving a small border.
04 - Roll up each bread slice tightly.
05 - Brush all sides of the roll ups lightly with melted butter.
06 - In a shallow bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
07 - Roll each buttered roll up in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.
08 - Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place roll ups seam-side down and cook, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown and crisp (about 6-8 minutes).
09 - Serve warm, dusted with extra cinnamon sugar if desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It turns basic sandwich bread into something that tastes like a fancy pastry.
  • The crispy exterior gives way to a warm, creamy center that feels like a hug.
02 -
  • Do not overcrowd the pan or the roll ups will steam instead of crisp up.
  • Keep the heat at medium to prevent the sugar from burning before the bread is cooked.
03 -
  • Chill the assembled rolls for 10 minutes if the filling feels too soft to handle.
  • Use tongs to turn the rolls in the pan to keep your hands safe from heat.
