One Bowl Banana Bread Chocolate Chips (Printable Version)

Moist, classic banana bread with rich chocolate chips, made in one bowl for easy clean-up.

# What You Need:

→ Wet Ingredients

01 - 3 ripe bananas (about 1 1/4 cups, mashed)
02 - 2 large eggs
03 - 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
04 - 3/4 cup (150 g) light brown sugar
05 - 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

→ Dry Ingredients

06 - 1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
07 - 1 tsp baking soda
08 - 1/2 tsp salt

→ Add-ins

09 - 3/4 cup (130 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
10 - Optional: 1/2 cup (60 g) chopped walnuts or pecans

# Directions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
02 - In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Add the melted butter and mix well.
03 - Whisk in the eggs, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
04 - Sprinkle the flour, baking soda, and salt over the wet ingredients. Gently fold together with a spatula until just combined (do not overmix).
05 - Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
06 - Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top and sprinkle with extra chocolate chips if desired.
07 - Bake for 50–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
08 - Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
09 - Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • Everything comes together in just one bowl so you spend less time cleaning up.
  • The texture is incredibly moist while still holding a satisfying crumb.
02 -
  • Overmixing the flour will make the bread tough and chewy instead of tender.
  • Letting the bread cool completely before slicing is crucial for the texture to set.
03 -
  • If your bananas are not quite ripe enough, roast them in the oven at 300°F for 15 minutes first.
  • Freezing your chocolate chips before adding them prevents them from sinking to the bottom.
